Posts Tagged ‘AA Meetings’

This was a good weekend, given how the past week went.  Husband went to a meeting Thursday night, Friday night, Saturday night and is at a meeting now, Sunday night.  That’s good.  He hasn’t done that in a long time…more than one meeting a week.  He met someone who also needs to do a meeting a day and he’s helped my husband with rides.  In the meantime, I was able to catch up with some good friends and get the house straightened up, for the most part.

One thing I’ve noticed though, is that once my husband is out of his fog, he wants to do a lot – as soon as possible.  He is going to take on two projects this week (he is self-employed but does not get a lot of work) and is already thinking of transferring to a different school that has a more detailed program for what he is trying to do.

When I was bringing him home from the hospital, he told me that he didn’t care if we were broke, that he needed to focus on being well and staying sober and now just a few days later he is thinking about doing all of these things.  I tried to remind him that he needs to focus on his being well and he said being broke doesn’t help.  Ugh.

For the record, we are not dirt poor, but he wants a lot of things right now…a better place to live, his license back, a new car and that kind of stuff just isn’t possible.  I do what I can for us, on my modest income.  We had dinner with friends this weekend.  He got some new gloves.  I just hope he doesn’t try to go overboard because that’s when we start to have trouble.  He needs to just take one day at a time.  (Sorry for the cliche).
